WordPress configuration after installation and theme files
I think that about half of you have configured your domain name’s DNS and installed WordPress on your host. Am I right?
What helped those of you who have installed WordPress?
I know this stuff can be frustrating, but once you get your WordPress website installed you won’t have to deal with your DNS or database much anymore. You’ll be FTPing and using your Text Editor some more though.
Next class we’ll spend a little more time installing WordPress, but we have Chapters 1-3 of Digging Into WordPress to get through as well.
Please try to get WordPress installed on your own before lab on Monday. Call GoDaddy, call Media Temple, or call Just Host if you are having trouble FTPing to your root html directory, creating a MySQL database, or configuring your DNS.
In my previous post I added some of my thoughts about Digging Into WordPress Ch 1 and 2.
Chapter 3 of Digging Into WordPress discusses theme files, page views, the header, the loop, comments, the sidebar, search, the footer, and the functions.php file!
