The Global Wine Industry January 2010
Class Blog: The Global Wine Industry
Thanks for your patience in dealing with all the administrative details preparing for the class/trip!
Last year I listed a bunch of articles related to the Chilean wine industry for students to read before the class/trip.
This year I’ve been sharing articles related to the Chilean Wine Industry on the facebook group wall, and under the twitter hashtag #SSUCHILE.
I’ll distribute an official syllabus to everyone at the airport. To prepare for the class assignments and test you should be ready to complete two blog assignments. One blog post assignment will be on an assigned winery that we visit. The second blog post assignment can be done on a topic that inspires you in Chile. Blog posts can be text only, but I encourage you to include images, video, and audio content in your blog posts. You can post your blog post to TheGlobalWineIndustry.com using WordPress or you can create your own blog and write your blog post there (facebook and twitter don’t count). You will be tested on Chile’s wine regions. You will be provided lots of information handouts and maps on Chile’s wine regions once we arrive in Santiago, Chile.
Make sure you have a good book or two to read while we travel! Here are some of my favorites that relate to The Global Wine Industry: Wine Politics, by Tyler Colman, The History and Mystery of Zinfandel, by David Darlington, The Emperor of Wine, by Elin McCoy, Reflections of a Wine Merchant, by Neal Rosenthal, The House of Mondavi, by Julia Siler, Judgment of Paris, by George M. Taber, The Heartbreak Grape, by Marq de Villiers, The Billionaire’s Vinegar, by Benjamin Wallace.
