There are some great new tutorials on Lynda.com about WordPress, Digging Into WordPress has been updated for WordPress 3.0, and Tuts+ just started Wptuts+. This promotions marketing class contains my favorite educational resources on how to buy a domain name and hosting, start a WordPress webiste, create a custom email address with Google Apps, use WordPress, learn Photoshop, add Photoshop graphics to a WordPress website, add Photoshopped photographs to a WordPress website, learn about Photoshop website mockups, custimze the HTML and CSS of a WordPress theme, use a custom WordPress theme, customize WordPress navigation, widgets, plugins, optimize a WordPress website for search engines, and add video to a WordPress website.
Content management, web design, graphic design, and blogging are important marketing skills that promotion management students should understand. I was excited to get the opportunity to teach this marketing class. Just as I was getting into WordPress I was asked to teach a promotions class. What better way to manage a promotion that with the WordPress content management system. WordPress is what all kinds of businesses, from bands to wineries, are using to manage their online identities, promote events, manage content, and more.
