My Favorite Marketing Books
Marketing books that made me think critically about consumption:
- Get Back in the Box: Innovation from the Inside Out: This book made me realize the importance of understanding html, css, graphic design, video editing, and more.
- Buying In: What We Buy and Who We Are: Rob Walker is probably today's leading author on Branding and Consumption.
- How Brands Become Icons: The Principles of Cultural Branding: Holt's book does an amazing job at describing how brands resonate so powerfully with consumers/people in the same manner that rock starts and movies resonate so powerfully with consumers/people.
- Coercion: Why We Listen to What "They" Say: Even though this is the oldest book of the bunch, it touches on countless consumption theories and it describes the historical progressions of branding, advertising, atmospherics, and more.
- Born to Buy: The Commercialized Child and the New Consumer Culture: Reading about marketing to children forces students to think critically about consumption.
