How to learn video content marketing

Wineries are creating great video content.  Crushpad’s Crushnet has very educational winemaking videos, Gary Vaynerchuk is the man, Hardy‘s 1 minute video helped him become infamous, Pinotblogger is starting a video series, and Sonoma County has made fun of it all–Vaynerchuk parody/Murphy Goode parody.

Viral videos are all the rave.  Dove, RayBan, MSI, Levi’s

Creating Video

Video Devices

  • Digital cameras, digital video recorders (camcorders), computer cameras, phones, and screencasting are all ways to record video.  You should be comfortable recording and capturing video on different devices.  Capturing video from your device to a video editor can be tricky as devices and software versions are constantly changing.

Video Editing

Sharing Video:

  • TubeMogul – Upload your video once and have it go to your other social video accounts automatically.  TubeMogul’s analytics are good too.
  • YouTube – If your videos are less then 10 minutes use YouTube.  All of these video players are customizable!
  • Viddler – If you want to foster interactivity.  Pro accounts are expensive and you have to apply to “Become a Partner” (get on iTunes).
  • Blip.tv – Not quite as good at posting to other social video accounts as TubeMogul, but you can publish a video podcast on iTunes after you’ve uploaded a few videos.  Great analytics too.
  • Vimeo – Lots of people are using Vimeo, but I don’t.
  • Facebook – Tag people in your video!!!
  • Twitter – Top 5 Ways to Share Videos on Twitter

Managing Video:

  • Automatically import/display the rss feed of your videos on a Web page.
  • Monitor your number of views and embeds.
  • Look at how long people watch your videos.  See which of your videos people are watching until the end–these are probably your best videos.
