Before you get into motion graphics you have to understand graphic design.

Interactive .pdf and html/css bar charts

Adobe Acrobat Pro is the easiest tool to make interactive .pdf files, but you can also use Adobe InDesign and Fireworks. You can use InDesign to do cool stuff with .pdf presentations. You can use Fireworks for HTML and CSS website prototyping.

I’d focus just on Illustrator for now, but you should be aware of when to use Illustrator vs. Acrobat Pro vs. InDesign vs. Fireworks.
